What was he thinking?

I know many of you wondered why in the world Sam's dad left him there in the forrest or why Sam didn't want to leave. Would you have asked to leave if you were Sam? Why do you think his dad let him stay? Why did Sam want to stay?

Rewrite the Ending

At the end of the story Sam's family comes to join him in the forest. They plan on building a cabin to live in. If you don't like the ending here is you chance to rewrite it or just spice it up a little bit.
